VGG Caddy is the only program I use that is NOT a WGT cheat program. It is simply a program that eliminates the need for subtraction in green speeds. Let me give you an example.
Tournament 12 greens is roughly a total of -4 for every 10 feet of the putt. A little practice may be involved in using the VGG Caddy as anything under 10 foot I normally add at least 1 foot to. But outside of 10 feet the caddy is the perfect tool to get you close to the hole if not in the hole.
Granted as I said before there may be a little figuring out, but for the most part once you have it you can’t live without it. Once you become familiar with it and learn the basics you will agree with me.
VGG Caddy is not a cheat! In fact it makes the Putter Pal look stupid in more ways that one. The caddy may be altered to suite your putter and putting style. There are a couple of things to know about it and I will tell you here:
the greater the percentage the slower the slower the ball will travel. This means that on a flat green, meaning no ups or downs, I personally like the ball to travel approximately 1 foot past the hole. So I set my VGG Caddy accordingly. The Caddy comes with a preset of all different greens, but I will be the first to say that they are not 100%. Now I don’t have measurements for slow greens, but you should know as well as I do that you need to add a couple of feet to the putt, so the Caddy doesn’t really matter. Standard greens are normally 100% but I tend to add at least a foot if not 2. The other green speeds are where the Caddy really comes into play.
(Examples may vary as WGT makes changes)
- Fast is generally -1 for every 10 feet.
- Very Fast is generally -2 for every 10 feet.
- Tourney 12 is generally -4 for every 10 feet.
- Championship is generally -5 for every 10 feet. (not to add on the additional in subtracting or adding for ups and downs on the green, yes!!! they are fast!)
You may download VGG Caddy the free version and the paid version from here: VGG Caddy Download
The free version: Not really much better than Putter Pal, and Shot Pal. It doesn’t give you the accuracy that you need, but may work okay for beginners that are not in need of precise measurement, or have no need or desire to hit accurately on distance.
The Paid version: For only the amount of $3.00 USD you have a lifetime of updates to the program, and with it get almost 100% precise measurements of shots and putts. Personally for 3 bucks you can’t go wrong.
How often do I use the VGG Caddy?
To be honest with you on full shots I don’t even think about it. However, on shots where I need to be accurate in my shooting I can’t live without it. Yes, you need to know measurements and yes you sometimes need a calculator to get the measurements. However, if I have an 18 yard pitch on a club that shows a 25 yard scale, without the VGG Caddy I couldn’t land so close to the hole or sink the shot.
On greens, with the green speed placed in correctly for my putter I could not not live without the VGG Caddy for accuracy. It is truly a life savor and I think that every player on WGT should use it.
My Measurements: (Please note that these settings are with my putter and balls)
- Very Slow 6.9 for every 10 ft.: 80%
- Slow 7.4 for every 10 ft.: 85%
- Standard 7.9 for every 10 ft.: 90%
- Fast 9 for every 10 ft.: 100%
- Very Fast 10: 110%
- Tournament 11: 130%
- Tournament 12: 133%
- Championship 13: 138%
Of course most of the Not Configured means that I haven’t played the green speed to configure it. On the slower green speeds you are adding to the number and so they do not count. However, the Caddy still does count in adding the additional to the total given.
Upon Installation of VGG Caddy:
Most people make a folder in the C:\Program Files and then create a shortcut to the program to place on their desktop.
There is another way to add the program to you Start Up Programs list, but depending on you Operating System it can be different in each case. If you are computer savvy then with a quick google search you can find where to place the folder that you decide to name. Please note that with this change means that each update and configuration file the program must be placed in the location you specified.
Hope you love it as much as I do. Any questions please post them below.
